HERNDON — A 38-year-old man was released on bail and ordered to turn over his weapons to authorities Sunday after he allegedly pulled a loaded gun on a family member during an argument.

Brian Roy Stoneroad, of 761 Meeting House Road, Herndon, became embroiled in a dispute with a relative at about 9 p.m. at the 725 Meeting House Road home of his parents and sister and brother-in-law, Connie and Brian L. Love, and wielded a loaded 9mm handgun to get a reportedly argumentative Mr. Love to leave, state police at Stonington said.

Three children were in the home at the time of the incident, police said. The names and ages of the children were not released.

The argument had subsided by the time police arrived, and no one was injured.

Stoneroad said he got a call from his mother, Susan Stoneroad, who complained that Brian Love was threatening her and her husband, Roy, the criminal complaint said.

Stoneroad allegedly told police that he took the gun over to his parents’ house because Love “is crazy” and brandished it only when Love pushed him and his mother and refused to leave the house.

Susan Stoneroad told police that her son did have a gun, but never pointed it at anyone and kept it at his side, the complaint said. She allegedly described Love as yelling and “being out of control.”

Brian Stoneroad was arrested in accordance with state domestic violence laws and arraigned on charges of simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and terroristic threats by on-call District Judge William F. Kear.

Stoneroad was released on $50,000 non-monetary bail on the condition that he surrender all of his guns to the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
