SUNBURY — One man was injured when a sport utility vehicle skidded on a patch of ice and rolled onto the passenger side early Tuesday evening along Irish Valley Road in Rockefeller Township, Northumberland County.
Five people were involved in the accident, which occurred when a 1993 Grand Cherokee Jeep crashed while negotiating a steep, sharp right curve.
Passenger Krista Reichenbach, 27, of Coal Township, said the group was driving to see friends in Kreamer.
“We decided to take a shortcut to Route 890, instead of using Route 61,” Reichenbach said.
Timothy Reichwein, 37, was driving “very slowly around the turn, at about 15 miles an hour, when he lost control,” Reichenbach said.
An unidentified male passenger reportedly had a shoulder injury of unknown severity. He was taken by Americus Ambulance to Shamokin Area Community Hospital. Two other passengers were unharmed.
Responding to the scene at about 5:15 p.m. were state police at Stonington, the Stonington Fire Company and Sunbury Rescue.
