BRONX, N.Y. — The Rev. Timothy Wright, the Grammy-nominated gospel singer who was critically injured in a July 4 head-on collision on Interstate 80 in Clinton County, is a patient in a Veterans Affairs Medical Center in the Bronx, according to an e-mail received Monday from Wright’s administrative office.

The e-mail said the 61-year-old New York City man is undergoing rehabilitation.

Wright’s wife, Betty, 58, and grandson, D.J., 14, were killed in the crash. The accident was caused by John Pick, 44, of Lewisburg, when he drove his vehicle the wrong way on Interstate 80, according to state police at Lamar. Pick also was killed in the crash.

After a stay at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Wright was transferred to the Kessler Institute in New Jersey in August, according to Wright’s Web site. It said he is suffering from a severe C4 spinal cord injury and periodically has been on a ventilator for breathing assistance.

The pastor has released more than a dozen gospel recordings and was nominated for a Grammy in 1994.
