WATSONTOWN -- The landlord had a cow when she found her tenant had a chicken.
Now the landlord's been charged with theft for a crime that can only be called "fowl play."
Police said that on Feb. 25, Faye Arlene Winter, 53, 143 Baylor Road, removed a Polish bantam chicken and a carrier case owned by Jane Stilin, a tenant in a home at 212 Baylor Road owned by Winter.
Winter took the chicken to her husband's place of employment and gave it to another employee there, who took it to his farm near Muncy.
Winter told police she took the bird because she had a no pets policy at her rental properties, and she had received complaints from neighbors.
Police said they had obtained the phone number of the man who had the chicken and passed it on to Stilin.
