SHAMOKIN DAM -- The following are among area high school students who were named Young Americans for February by the Greater Susquehanna Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Biographical information on each month's Young Americans will be featured on this page on Mondays.

n danville area high school

Mark Horvath, of Danville, is the son of Charles and the late Kathy Horvath. His key interest is the Captain Robotics Club. He is a member of the concert and marching band, jazz band, percussion ensemble, wind ensemble, Ski Club, National Honor Society and AP Scholars with distinction. He was awarded the Rensselaer Medal in 2008. In the community he is a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 33, and the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Alumnus. Mark plans to attend a four-year university to major in electrical and computer engineering.

n lewisburg area high school

Alexander Ororbia II, of Lewisburg, is the son of Alexander and Cheryl Ororbia. His key interests are drawing, reading, computer modeling and animation. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Gifted program, National Spanish Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, Pennsylvania Award for creative achievement in the arts at Pennsylvania State University College of Arts and Architecture, and attended 2008 "Issues for the 21st Century" Summit at Bucknell University. Alexander plans to attend Bucknell University and major in computer engineering and science.

n line mountain high school

Adam Menko, of Trevorton, is the son of Michael and Jeanne Menko. His key interests are basketball, baseball and FBLA. He is a member of the basketball team (9, 10, 11, 12 Captain), baseball (9, 10, 11, 12 Captain), Key Club, Conservation Club and the National Honor Society. Adam was a volunteer for the Special Olympics for six years and the Kiwanis Club for two years. He is involved with youth ministry and altar server. He plans to major in electrical engineering at Penn State Main Campus in the College of Engineering.
