Chase ends when teen crashes

LEWISBURG -- A 16-year-old Winfield boy crashed a car he had stolen minutes earlier when police attempted to stop him for faulty equipment.

East Buffalo Township police said they attempted to stop a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire traveling north on Route 15 at 10:03 p.m. Wednesday for faulty equipment. The car led officers on a high-speed chase in Lewisburg.

The chase ended when the teen lost control of the car while attempting to turn north on Route 405 from the bridge and struck a curb, causing severe damage to the vehicle.

The boy was discovered to have stolen the vehicle minutes earlier and did not have a valid driver's license. He was taken to Evangelical Community Hospital for minor injuries.

Lewisburg police assisted.
