SUNBURY -- Two Shikellamy High School students were among those arrested in Friday's citywide drug sweep.

Police said the two were arrested Friday morning shortly after they made a sale to a confidential informant in the 300 block of Walnut Street at about 8:20 a.m.

Arrested were Damian Michael McDermott, 18, 1542 Strawbridge Road, Northumberland, and Damir Budic, 18, 1050 Packer St., Sunbury.

Police said a confidential informant made a call to McDermott from the Sunbury police station at 7:55 a.m. and asked to purchase $35 worth of marijuana. Arrangements were made to meet in the 300 block of Walnut Street 30 minutes later.

Police observed the informant walk up to a vehicle driven by Budic. After the transaction, the vehicle drove behind Shikellamy High School, where McDermott got out and went between houses and into the school. Budic was arrested and his vehicle impounded.

Police then went to the school, where school officials located McDermott. He was searched by the principal in the nurse's office, and his locker was also searched.

He was read his rights by police and agreed to talk them. He said he had put the money under a porch and led officers to the site, where they found $35.

Budic and McDermott were arraigned before District Judge Carl Rice. Budic was charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, and McDermott was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.

Both were taken to Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $75,000 straight bail.
