SUNBURY -- A Sunbury woman was reported to have suffered a major injury in a head-on crash at 6:46 a.m. Saturday on Route 147 at Ridgeview Road in Upper Augusta Township.
State police at Stonington identified the woman as Elizabeth Snyder, 54.
Although the police report said she was flown by Lifeflight helicopter to Geisinger Medical Center, a nursing supervisor said Snyder wasn't there Saturday night.
Sunbury Community Hospital and Evangelical Community Hospital didn't have her listed as a patient, nursing supervisors there reported.
Tpr. Barry Wooten Jr., the investigating officer from the Stonington barracks, could not be reached for comment Saturday night. A spokeswoman at the barracks had no information on Snyder's condition.
Police said Maryellen Brocavich, 58, of Sunbury, pulled from Ridge Road to travel north on Route 147. Snyder was traveling south and just north of Ridge Road as Brocavich pulled out. Snyder tried to avoid the crash by traveling into the northbound lane where the vehicles collided head-on , police said.
Brocavich, who sustained a minor injury, was driving a Ford Taurus and Snyder was driving a Toyota Corolla.
Upper Augusta Township, Friendship and Americus fire companies responded.
