SHAMOKIN DAM -- A smoky fire late Sunday afternoon brought out firefighters from seven fire departments.
Chad Gavason, chief of the Shamokin Dam Fire Department, said the alarm came in about 5:20 p.m. The fire, at Sky Communications, 3004 N. Susquehanna Trail, also known as Routes 11-15, was extinguished in about 15 minutes, he said.
Sky Communication is located between the Golden Chopsticks restaurant and a BP gasoline station.
Gavason said the fire is not considered suspicious, but added that a state police fire marshal would investigate today. In addition to Shamokin Dam, firefighters from Hummels Wharf, Selinsgrove, Northumberland Hook & Ladder, Kreamer, Middleburg Rescue and the Americus Hose Company of Sunbury were on the scene. No estimate of damage was made.
