Elysburg man dies in crash near Kulpmont

KULPMONT — A Elysburg man was killed early Monday morning when he was ejected from his vehicle during a one-car crash.
State police at Stonington said Travis Hoopengardner, 24, lost control of his car at about 4:55 a.m. when he attempted to avoid a deer on Route 61. His vehicle swerved across the northbound lanes of Route 61, struck an embankment and a sign before going over a guide rail and down a steep embankment. He was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
