DANVILLE - A preliminary hearing was postponed today for two women charged with vandalizing area cemeteries and other vandalism in Montour County.
Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder said public defenders appointed for Alicia Lee Auman, 19, of 711 E. Iron St., and for Laurie Lynne Jones, 19, of 113 N. High St. Apt. 1, Selinsgrove, weren't both available to appear for the hearing.
The two and three juveniles allegedly vandalized tombstones in four cemeteries in April.
Three juveniles, two 17-year-old Danville boys and a 17-year-old Shamokin girl, have also been charged. Their cases will be handled in juvenile court.
They allegedly damaged and spray painted more than 70 tombstones at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, St. Joseph Cemetery, the cemetery of the Sisters of Christian Charity and the Mooresburg United Methodist Church Cemetery.
They are also charged with spray painting "Crip" and the Crips sign of a six-point star at a levy catch basin and spray painting a decorative rock at a home and road signs. Auman told police they were members of a gang but not the real Crips.
