SELINSGROVE – A 56-year-old Scranton man was killed along Routes 11-15 near the Monroe Marketplace in the area of Stetler Avenue and Runyan Road intersections about 12:40 this morning, according to the state police at Selinsgrove.
Police said the victim, Joseph Farrell, was walking with his bicycle along the highway when he walked between two construction barrels into the path of a car driven Eric Tanner, 19, of Northumberland.
Police said Farrell struck the car’s windshield and was thrown to the roadside.
They said a 16-year-old passenger in Tanner’s car sustained minor injuries. The name of the passenger was not released because of state police policy about juveniles.
Farrell was pronounced dead at the scene by Snyder County Coroner Bruce Hummel.
Hummels Wharf Fire Company, Dauntless Hook and Ladder Company paramedics from Selinsgrove and an EMTS ambulance responded to the scene.
