SUNBURY - Police are looking for four men who attacked and pulled a gun on a 21-year-old Sunbury woman Thursday night.

The unidentified woman was walking from South 11th Street to the area of 1000 Masser Street around 6 p.m. when the men, described as African American and approximately 20 years old, jumped her and began punching and kicking her, city police said.

One of the men pulled a blue semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the woman’s head and told her if her boyfriend didn’t meet with them, they would kill her.

Officer Stephen Bennick said based on interviews with the victim in which she described her attackers’ clothing, police believe they are looking for gang members.

“Some of the information we’ve gotten has led us to believe that,” he said.

According to Bennick, two of the four men were wearing red shirts, a color associated with the Bloods street gang.

He said the girl’s boyfriend has a “beef” with one of the attackers are police are “still trying to get to the bottom of that.”

Sunbury Police were assisted by Middleburg, Selinsgrove, Shamokin Dam, Point Township and Northumberland police, as well as state police and the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

If anyone witnessed the assault or has any information, they are asked to contact the Sunbury Police Department.
