SUNBURY — Two Northumberland County district judges have been disqualified from hearing cases involving an 80-year-old Marion Heights woman accused of trying to run down a neighbor with a vehicle and spitting in a police officer’s face.

President Judge Robert B. Sacavage issued a court order this week disqualifying District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, from overseeing all court cases involving Rose Galgocy, of 412 E. Clement St., and her son, Robert Galgocy, 54, of Marion Heights.

In 2004, Judge Sacavage disqualified District Judge Michael Mychak, of Mount Carmel, from hearing any cases involving the mother and son who have a criminal history.

Now, by court order, the pair has been transferred to District Judge Robert J. Bolton’s Sunbury court.

On Aug. 7, Rose Galgocy is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing before Bolton on felony aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit aggravated assault, as well as misdemeanor reckless driving and related offenses.

The charges stem from a July 9 incident in which the elderly woman allegedly tried to run down a neighbor, Charles “Chaz” Gallup and later spat in the face of Mount Carmel Township police Cpl. Brian Hollenbush.

Robert Galgocy is also scheduled to appear before Bolton on Aug. 7 on misdemeanor terroristic threats and harassment charges.
