Mid-Daily Items: Governor meets overzealous bouncer
The men have been charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
— In suburban Philadelphia, a couple is accused of damaging the property of more than 400 people during an 18-month egging spree.
According to court documents, Philip Fleck and his girlfriend, Heather Darcy, admitted to the vandalism.
Police say the couple wanted to retaliate against friends for damages they said were inflicted upon them — but the couple also egged other people to draw suspicion away from them.
Police say Fleck and Darcy caused more than $7,000 in damages.
Letters have been sent to residents of Lansdale asking victims to come forward. Montgomery County District Attorney Risa Vetri Ferman says her office has an obligation to get restitution for them.
Darcy's mother, Cindy Darcy, says the case is "being blown way out of proportion."
— And finally, three tiger cubs at a Kansas zoo are getting some maternal care from an unlikely source — Isabella the golden retriever.
The tiger cubs were born Sunday at Safari Zoological Park but their mother soon stopped caring for them. Isabella had just weaned her own puppies and was able to step in. See the photo to the left.
Zoo owner Tom Harvey says, “The timing couldn’t have been any better.”
He says it’s unusual for dogs to care for tiger cubs, but it does happen. Isabella licks, cleans and feeds the cubs just like her own puppies.
