DANVILLE — A 52-year-old Danville man took photos of a 16-year-old girl nude and e-mailed them, borough police say.
James Michael Hunter, of 516 Mill St., Apartment C-5, was arraigned Wednesday night on 33 counts of sexual abuse of children by on-call District Judge Craig Long in Catawissa.
Danville police officer Gerard Zeidler Jr. charged Hunter with 11 counts each of sexual abuse of children (photographing, videotaping, depicting on computer or filming sexual acts), sexual abuse of children (dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions and films) and sexual abuse of children (possession of child pornography).
The girl’s name is being withheld because she is a juvenile and due to the nature of the case.
Police began the investigation after receiving an anonymous call June 8 from a woman who told them Hunter had at least 12 digital photos of a naked girl saved in his Yahoo! account under the names of “my love” or “my loves.”
As of June 9, police found three e-mails sent from Hunter’s Yahoo! account — onehotcityguy — to himself. They found six photos, received March 25, that were sexually explicit of the girl. A second e-mail, dated March 25, showed 10 files, including five photos of the girl and five photos of Hunter posing for the camera.
Police said a third e-mail from March 26 showed 11 sexually explicit photos of the teenaged girl.
When Danville police Sgt. Bill Wilt showed the girl a picture of Hunter, she said she had “no idea” who he was. After Wilt explained there were more pictures of her and they appeared to have been taken in Hunter’s apartment, including a picture of her standing in the same spot as Hunter was in another photo, she said she knew him.
Hunter had purchased a case of Coors Light beer in January or February and she drank a considerable amount of beer and had possibly taken some prescription pills that day, she said.
She said she began to “make out” with Hunter, remembered going to his bed but remembered nothing after that.
Hunter was committed to Montour County Jail in default of $100,000 bail.
