First Friday to feature ethnic art

SELINSGROVE -- The Snyder County Arts Council is planning for an Ethnic Expo-themed First Friday event tomorrow from 5-9 p.m. in downtown Selinsgrove.
In keeping with the international theme, Ko I niké West African Drum Ensemble will perform at 8 o'clock in the Selinsgrove Commons. Also scheduled to perform are the Pleasant Valley Dancers from 5-6 and Billy D & Rosie from 6-8.
First Friday September will also feature a new selection of works in a variety of mediums by SCAC member artists at Eclectika. Other locations and their featured artists are: A Dustin Kline Salon, jewelry designs by Kristy Hain; Barbara L. Kistner Designs, featuring her own work; Charles McCuen Law Office, watercolors by Sharon Cressinger and hand-built pottery by Adrian Bergey; DJ Ernst Books, photography by Lynn McCann; The Country Squire, metalwork design.
Music Plus will feature the photography of Izzy Wagner and music by Useless Words. TSZ Design will showcase paintings by Florence Putterman and photography by Samantha Herrold.
The Sewing Shanty will host the art of felting with members of the Susquehanna Valley Spinners and Weavers Guild. The Stereo Shoppe will have international travel photography by Jessica Roseberry-Moyer.
Beverly Owens and art from the Merrill W. Linn Conservancy will be at Emma's Food for Life.
Other participating artists and their locations are: Break and Run Billiards, with wildlife paintings by Jerome Connelly; Irene's, with paintings by Lori Sturgeon; Sarah Kate Interiors, with beaded purse designs by Roberta Garlock; Campus Candlelight Café, with photography by Chris Packard and The Kind Café, paintings by W.R. Hart.
The council is planning for other First Fridays through the end of 2008.
