LEWISBURG -- A Catawissa man and woman are facing charges they returned several items at Wal-Mart in Kelly Township last winter minutes after picking them off the shelves in return for $1,000 in gift cards, according to state police at Milton.

Mark K. McDowell, 41, of 247 Pine St., and Jennifer M. Britton, 24, same address, allegedly worked in tandem on Jan. 3 and Jan. 7 when they took two pro heat vacuum cleaners valued at $220.26 each and a hi-definition DVD player valued at $315.88, then walked to the customer service area and exchanged them in the store for gift cards, state police said.

Britton also allegedly worked with Deanna L. Delgado, no age given, of Goldsboro, N.C., on Dec. 29, Dec. 30 and Jan. 2 to take a blender valued at $70.88, an electric toaster oven valued at $52.83, a stand mixer valued at $104.65 and vacuum cleaner valued at $147.16 and exchanged them for gift cards, according to state police.

Charges have yet to be filed on Delgado, according to court records.

During the Jan. 2 incident, state police said Delgado took a number of return stickers from the Garden Center from the area they are normally kept.

The thefts were caught on surveillance video, state police said.
