NEW BLOOMFIELD — Authorities in Perry County say a man has been charged with killing his wife after the missing woman's body was found on their property.

State police at Newport say the body of 47-year-old Sherie Deardorf-Buck was found in the woods behind the couple's Perry County home on Wednesday. An autopsy is scheduled Friday.

Authorities said 47-year-old Edward Buck was charged with an open count of homicide and a firearms violation.

Police said the woman had been reported missing Thursday, and her station wagon was found the next day in Cumberland County with her dog inside. Authorities said surveillance video showing Buck making a call nearby led police to a cab driver who said he had taken a man resembling Buck to western Perry County.

Buck remains in custody pending a Nov. 4 preliminary hearing. His attorney, county public defender Sean Potter, did not immediately return a call seeking comment.
