State police at Milton are looking for the man who they say set a fire that caused $141,700 in damage to an apartment complex and left two people temporarily homeless.

Fire marshal Norm Fedder on Friday said Thursday's noontime blaze at 37 Main St. was intentionally set by Chester Michael Kasianczuk, 34, a tenant of the apartment house.

The owner of the apartment house, Filippo Cracchiolo, said he employed Kasianczuk for a short time at Original Italian Pizza in Turbotville. Kasianczuk quit the job, Cracchiolo said.

The fire started in the kitchen of Apartment 3, located at Rear 37 Main St. Kasianczuk was seen entering the structure about 30 minutes before the fire, state police report.

The apartment house will be razed because of excessive smoke and fire damage.

Milton state police have issued an arrest warrant for Kasianczuk, who faces arson and related charges before District Judge William F. Kear in Milton. Cracchiolo is insured against the loss.

Anyone with information is asked to call Milton state police at 524-9391.
