Deceased veterans to be honored
SUNBURY — Twenty-three deceased veterans will be honored during the annual Veterans Day program on Wednesday at American Legion Post 201, 611 Market St.
Members of the Joint Veterans Committee, made up of members of the American Legion Post 201 and the VFW Post 1532, will meet at 10:30 a.m. in Cameron Park at the monuments for a brief ritual. Following the ceremony, they and the other participants will parade to the Legion for the 11 a.m. program.
The Shikellamy High School Junior ROTC will post the colors and serve as the honor guard. The invocation will be given by Paul Russo, Post 201 chaplain.
Past commander Vincent Wohlheiter will give the welcome. John Borich, chairman of the Joint Veterans Committee, will serve as master of ceremonies. Dennis Schnader, retired Shikellamy High School band director, will play taps.
The Veterans Day ritual will be presented by Roger Martz, VFW Post 1532 commander.
Students from St. Monica School and Beck School will present a program.
The joint veterans will pay respects to the following: Alfred Thomas, John J. Semicek, John Martin, George W. Forsythe, Margaret C. Sholly, Edward Rubendall, Charles Ressler, John R. Kalcich, Francis Pronkoskie, George W. Martz Jr., Richard Schubert, Charles E. Drumheller, Richard L. Yeager, Robert E. Doebler, Richard K. Troutman, Robert W. Schleig Sr., Marlin W. Tressler, John L. Rudy Jr., Harry Bickhart, Harry F. Yeager Jr., John E. “Ned” Swank, Charles E. “Hap” Hogan and John Wieczerzak.
