ZERBE TOWNSHIP — A Pine Grove man was drunk when he drove his vehicle on three wheels and decided to turned around to look for the fourth, according to police.

Carter D. Knouse, 48, hit an unknown object around 6:46 p.m. Wednesday but continued to travel west on Upper Road with only three wheels, according to Cpl. George Ritchey of state police at Stonington on Saturday.

When Knouse tried to turn his 2002 Buick Regal around to search for the missing wheel, the vehicle slid off the road and down into a deep ditch.

Knouse will be cited for careless driving and driving with a suspended license, Ritchey said. Driving under the influence charges will also be filed as the investigation continues.

Ritchey added they still have not recovered the missing wheel.
