Candles in the dark

Pagans, Wiccans celebrate Yule time

By Rick Dandes
The Daily Item

"It's a good time for a party," he said. "We'll have food, drink and time to think about nature."

Pagan beliefs and this ritual on the darkest of all nights sometimes lead non-believers to accuse them of worshipping Satan.

"I don't believe in Satan," Wickham said. "I think there is good and bad, but I don't think there is an entity out there creating that. What we believe in is nature, nurturing the earth and bettering ourselves."
