Montour County man charged today with threatening to kill his mother and brother

DANVILLE — A Derry Township man charged with threatening to shoot and kill his mother and brother said he doesn’t consider them family.

“Not any more after this,” Arthur D. Parker, 34, of 580 Cameltown Hill Road, told Montour County District Judge Marvin Shrawder during his arraignment Tuesday.

State police at Milton charged Parker with illegal possession of a firearm since he had been convicted of aggravated indecent assault, terroristic threats, simple assault and harassment from the incident at about 7:58 a.m. Tuesday at their home.

Parker’s mother Elaine Kirchman told police she and Parker got into an argument in the kitchen. He turned away and began walking back a hallway. The room at the end of the hallway has a gun safe. Parker said, “Nobody wants me. I should just shoot myself,” she told investigating officer Tpr. Joshua Herman. He then said, “No, wait, maybe I should shoot the both of you and then myself. Then they’ll find three dead bodies when they arrive,” she told police.

She then went to the room of her other son Joshua Kirchman and told him to stop Parker from getting a gun. Joshua Kirchman told police he went to the rear bedroom where the gun safe was and saw Parker holding a Winchester model 721 rifle by the barrel in his right hand and Parker looking for ammunition in the cabinet. He told his brother it was not his gun and he needed to put it back. Parker put the gun back and went into the living room area where he began arguing with his mother again, according to the charges.

Shrawder set bail for Parker at $25,000 straight bail and told him to have no contact with his mother or brother and that he wasn’t allowed back in his home.

“I believe he has no where to go,” Herman said of Parker who was taken to jail.

When asked by Shrawder if he had been released on bail before, Parker said he had and had been convicted of indecent assault. “I don’t know the whole list,” said Parker who had been living at the Cameltown home at least four years.
