— DANVILLE – State police at Milton, and the Montour County coroner and district attorney are investigating the death of a 4-month-old boy whose body was found early Saturday at a Mill Street apartment.

Coroner Scott Lynn at midday Saturday said the death was reported at 5:11 a.m. at 335 Mill St., in an apartment above the Stoneware store. Lynn would not provide information on the cause of death, saying that it was too early.

Milton troopers later Saturday said they assumed the case at the request of Danville police and that an autopsy on the boy is scheduled for this week.

State troopers and officials were seen entering and exiting the apartment at the time and a state police forensics van was parked on Mill Street.

Saturday’s investigation was the second in the week in Montour County after a 51-year-old woman was found dead in her apartment Wednesday afternoon in Mahoning Township.

An autopsy was conducted Friday in Allentown on that woman. Officials won’t know the cause of death until the results of toxicology tests are received. They were told that could take up to eight to 10 weeks to be completed, Montour County District Attorney Rebecca Warren said Friday.

Mahoning Township investigating officer Chad Thomas said Friday afternoon the woman’s death is under investigation. He said he would not disclose the woman’s name until all family members were notified of her death.

Lynn pronounced the woman dead in the F complex of Mahoning Terrace Apartments, off Bloom Road. The woman’s boyfriend was in the apartment when Thomas arrived.
