Snyder County man jailed on assault charges

MIDDLEBURG — A Mount Pleasant Mills man is locked up on charges he kicked his girlfriend in the face when she tried to awaken him and resisted arrest when police showed up.

Kenneth Lowery, 27, allegedly kicked his girlfriend, Marissa Liddington, in the face and injured her jaw when she tried awaken him as he slept on the floor of a bedroom at a Pine Street home in Middleburg on Jan. 1, Middleburg borough police said.

Two adult witnesses, Charles Tomb and Callandra Try, said Lowery had also earlier punched Liddington in the side of the face while she sat in a bathtub holding an infant, court records said.

Police said Liddington’s jaw was black and blue and appeared to be dislocated.

While in custody, Lowery allegedly banged his head on the bathroom wall at the borough police station and caused more than $150 in damage.

He also resisted the efforts of four law enforcement officers, including Police Chief Tony Jordan, to take him into custody, threatening to “place a bullet” in the head and neck of Patrolman David Shaffer, court records said.

Lowery was sent to Snyder County Prison in lieu of $100,000 cash following an arraignment on charges of felony aggravated assault, misdemeanor simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct, harassment, criminal mischief and resisting arrest before on-call District Judge John H. Reed.
