The Roaring Creek Trail Road will be open to passenger vehicles only on Oct. 14. Vehicles towing trailers/campers, buses, motor homes and other large vehicles will not be permitted. Traffic will be one way from Route 54 gate to Route 42 Ggate. Drive through will begin at the Route 54 parking area gate at 9:30 a.m. and remain open until 2 p.m. Traffic will be restricted to Roaring Creek Trail in a one-way direction along this eight-mile trail and exit at the Route 42 gate. All vehicles will be required to exit the State Forest by 3 p.m. Passenger vehicles only (i.e., cars, pick-up trucks, SUVs, passenger vans) will be permitted to enter the tract. Vehicles towing trailers/campers, buses, motor homes and other large vehicles will not be permitted to enter. Individuals who possess a valid fishing license may cast a line from the shore or in their canoe or kayak. Canoes and kayaks are permitted on McWilliams and Kline’s reservoirs. A valid launch permit from the DCNR or Fish and Boat Commission affixed to the boat is required. Canoes and kayaks must be transported by rooftop or in the bed of a pick-up truck. Bureau personnel will be posted along the trail and points of interest to assist the public and answer questions. For more information call 385-7800.
