DANVILLE — Members of the Danville Education Association voted for a second time to accept a state arbitrator’s report rejected by the school board, but it won’t keep the group from continuing negotiations.
“We’re looking for a date in April to get together and negotiate,” said Dave Fortunato, president and head negotiator for the DEA. The school board had previously unanimously rejected the report and its suggestions.
The arbitrator, a state-appointed fact-finder, was requested by the school district in January after the district’s contract negotiation team felt they had reached an impasse with the DEA. The teachers have been without a contract since the end of June 2012.
Since one side rejected the report, it is now available for the public to read. The entirety of the report can be viewed at http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/fact-finding_reports/10498.
Both sides were given two opportunities to accept or reject the terms suggested by the fact-finder.
