— NORTHUMBERLAND — Two Valley residents were killed as a result of a three-vehicle accident Friday on Route 11 in Point Township.
Faye M. Kieffer, 85, of Middle Creek Road, Dornsife, a passenger in a Ford Taurus driven by her husband, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash at 11:35 a.m., Northumberland County Coroner James F. Kelley said.
Jeffrey Robinson, 60, of Northumberland, was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m. in the emergency room at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by Montour County Coroner Scott Lynn.
The identities of those in the third vehicle was unknown at deadline. Point Township police continued their investigation as of late Friday night and would issue a report this morning, a dispatcher said.
According to Kelley, Kieffer was a wearing a seat belt and sat in the front of the Ford Taurus when it was struck by a Ford Windstar GL van. He attributed her death to multiple blunt force trauma.
Robinson was the driver of the van and died of multiple blunt force injuries, Lynn said.
Route 11 was closed for nearly three hours after the crash near the intersection with Ridge Road. Traffic was detoured onto Routes 54, 642 and 147, a spokesman for the state Department of Transportation said.
Crews from Upper Augusta, Point Township, Northumberland and Sunbury responded, as did Kelley, Chief Deputy Coroner James R. Gotlob and Deputy Coroner Barry J. Leisenring.
