Middleburg man, 34, dies in Snyder County motorcycle crash

MIDDLEBURG - A 34-year-old Middleburg man was killed Tuesday evening when his motorcycle veered off Route 104 on a curve and struck a utility pole.

Clinton E. Haines was pronounced dead at the scene by Snyder County Coroner Bruce Hummel.

State police at Selinsgrove said Haines was traveling north on Route 104 in the area of Mitchell Road in Franklin Township when his 2003 Yamaha XVS 1100 went out of control on a curve. The vehicle crossed the southbound lane, left the highway and hit the pole, police said.

The victim, who was wearing a safety helmet, was driving too fast for conditions, police said.
