Car skids on ice, hits house

HERNDON — A Northumberland County man was not injured though an icy road led him to pay an unexpected visit to a Herndon homeowner on Sunday afternoon when his car struck the Jordan Township house.

Connor Laudenslager, 19, of Herndon, lost control of his 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier as he negotiated a downhill right curve while traveling north on Route 3013, just south of Raupstal Road in Jordan Township.

The accident occurred about 1:50 p.m., state police at Stonington reported, adding the road was snow-covered and icy.

Laudenslager’s vehicle traveled off the east side of the road, and its right front struck the left rear of a parked 2000 Ford Focus, police report.

Laudenslager’s vehicle continued north and then struck the home of Terry Kissinger, of Herndon. The vehicle then came to rest against the house, facing north.

Laudenslager was wearing his seat belt, and his airbag did deploy, police said. His vehicle sustained moderate front-end damage.

The Focus, which was legally parked and unoccupied, sustained minor damage. Police did not report who owns the car nor the damage, if any, to the Kissinger home.

No charges were filed against Laudenslager, police said.
