— DANVILLE — A Danville woman was arrested for allegedly cutting her boyfriend’s neck with a serrated steak knife at 11:25 p.m. New Year’s Eve.

Danville police said Sharon Marie Arndt, 45, of 303 E. Market St., assaulted her boyfriend, Jeff Shearer, after they had an argument at his apartment at 218 Mill St.

Arresting officer Christopher Plafcan said he saw a small cut on Shearer’s neck when he responded to the emergency call on Monday.

“Upon arrival, the victim, Jeff Shearer, directed me to the bedroom where I located the suspect, Sharon Arndt,” Plafcan said in the criminal complaint. Plafcan took Arndt into custody.

Shearer told police he and Arndt had been drinking and got into an argument. Shearer went to sleep on a chair because he “did not want any part of it.”

He awoke to a burning sensation on his neck and saw Arndt standing over him with the knife, police said.

Shearer told police he swung his arms up and knocked the knife out of her hand. It landed on the floor next to the chair.

Plafcan filed felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault charges against Arndt on Tuesday in District Judge Marvin Shrawder’s office.

Arndt is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 10 a.m. Jan. 9 at Shrawder’s. She was committed to jail on $50,000 bail.
