Campus Theater offers great seats to watch inauguration

LEWISBURG — The best seat in town to watch Monday’s presidential inauguration had to be at Campus Theatre, which opened its doors for free and broadcast President Barack Obama taking the oath of office for the second time.

“It was nice of the theater to do this,” said Betsy Noyce, 61, of Lewisburg, comfy in one of several couches the renovated theater offers.

About 30 people of assorted ages made themselves comfortable to watch a very big man on a very big screen — and talk about even bigger issues they want to see Obama take on in his next four years as president.

“I really like Obama. I just think he’s a cool guy,” said Randy Manbeck of McClure, there with friends Ian Felker of Middleburg, Kemah Armes of Middleburg and Kacie Bogar of Beavertown.

The four Midd-West High School students are all 17 years old; two are college-bound seniors and two are higher-ed aspiring juniors. And they have a collective list of issues they want the president to tackle: gun control, the deficit, peace in the Middle East and foreign relations among them.

Randy and Kemah both want to see the deficit shrink, at least a little.

“Will he cut things in general to make the budget work,” Kemah said. “We’re in debt, and I want to see what he will do about that.”
