Different reasons for spending the night in the cold

SELINSGROVE — Two groups of people spent Wednesday night sleeping outdoors, braving the elements in Monroe Township for distinctly different reasons.

In a bid to raise money and awareness about the plight of the homeless, about 20 young people from Wesley United Methodist Church Youth Group in Selinsgrove camped out in boxes in the parking lot at Aubrey Alexander Toyota along Routes 11-15.

A mile north, several people spent the night outside Best Buy waiting for the doors to open at midnight today so they could be the first to get deals they say will save them hundreds of dollars.

The contrast between the two sets of campers was striking, but both approached the evening with smiles and the expectation of a satisfying payoff.
