DANVILLE — Reconstruction efforts at the Danville Middle School were met today with praise from state Rep. Kurt Masser.
“It’s night and day from the last time I was in here shortly after the flood,” said Masser, R-107, who toured the building at 10 a.m., July 22.
The Danville Middle School was closed in September of 2011, following extensive flood damage from Tropical Storm Lee. It is scheduled to open in about a month in time for the first day of the 2013-2014 school year on Aug. 26.
Masser was given a tour of the middle school by several school officials, including principal Charles Smargiassi, district superintendent Cheryl Latorre and district maintenance director Rick Engle.
The district wanted to use the tour “to personally thank Representative Masser” for his support of the reconstruction the past two years, said Latorre.
