Two killed in crash involving a tractor-trailer near Harrisburg

LINGLESTOWN — Two people were killed Tuesday evening in a crash involving a tractor-trailer.

Emergency dispatchers in Dauphin County say the crash happened on Routes 22-322 in Middle Paxton Township at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. They said another person was also injured and taken to Hershey Medical Center.

The Patroit News of Harrisburg is reporting this morning that pieces of concrete fell from the truck and crashed into a pickup truck, killing two occupants.

Officials say the cab apparently became separated from the tractor-trailer, and some diesel fuel may have leaked into the nearby Susquehanna river. State agriculture officials were also being notified because the trailer was hauling thousands of pounds of processed chicken.

State police are investigating. The names and other information about the victims was not immediately released.
