LEWISBURG — Mother Nature turned CSI on Wednesday night when footprints in the snow led authorities to two men who broke into several homes in Lewisburg, police said.
Buffalo Valley Regional Police would not release the names of the suspected burglars, who authorities said entered five homes and tried to enter another. Police followed shoe prints in the snow, from one targeted house to another, eventually apprehending the men after they visited a convenience store.
Both men have signed admissions to the burglaries, but Buffalo Valley Regional Police Officer Shawn Burns said he couldn’t release their names until they are charged.
“This doesn’t happen many times in your career where you get a break like that,” Burns, the arresting officer on the case, said of the snow tracks.
He and Sgt. Fred Hetrick “were really fortunate on that night.”
