A Milton man is facing numerous charges after allegedly taking inappropriate photographs of a 4-year-old girl he watched while her parents worked the night shift.
Brian Kelson Jr., 21, of Upper Market Street, is charged with sexual abuse of a child, two counts of unlawful contact with a minor and design of obscene materials, according to court documents.
Kelson was living with the family, which includes four children ages 7 and under, and normally put the children to bed while the parents were at work, police said.
On Dec. 22, the children’s father was home and thought the 4-year-old daughter was acting strangely around bedtime, refusing to go to bed and grabbing onto her father, according to court documents.
The next day, on a hunch, he checked a camera Kelson kept in the home and found five or six pictures depicting the girl in sexual poses, which had been taken in another child’s bedroom, police said. In one of the photographs, Kelson was visible, police said.
The father immediately called police to report the incident, police said.
During questioning, Kelson admitted taking one photograph of the girl and stated that the other photos were computer manipulations of the original photograph, according to police.
Kelson was arraigned by District Justice Richard Cashman in Milton and committed to the Northumberland County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for Wednesday at Cashman’s office in Milton.
