— MARION HEIGHTS — Two Schuylkill County men were killed and two other people injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday on Route 54 near Marion Heights.

The two vehicles, a silver 2004 GMC Envoy and a 2001 black Dodge Dakota pickup truck, collided near the intersection with Park Avenue, according to Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush.

Pronounced dead at the scene at 1:15 p.m. by Northumberland County Chief Deputy Coroner Jim Gotlob were the two passengers in the Envoy, Charles D. Carl, 92, and Ronald E. Matejick, 76, both of Gordon. Gotlob was assisted by Deputy Coroner Barry J. Leisenring and Coroner James F. Kelley.

The driver of the Envoy, Tina Alexander, 40, also of Gordon, was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she was listed in fair condition Monday night. Carl was Alexander’s grandfather.

Hollenbush said the evidence indicates that Carl was wearing a seat belt, but Matejick was not.

Glenn Meredith, 52, of Mount Carmel, who was driving the Dodge pickup, was taken by helicopter to Geisinger. He was listed in critical condition Monday night, according to a Geisinger nursing supervisor.
