Selinsgrove driver hurt in Sunbury crash with truck

SUNBURY — A Selinsgrove woman was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when the car she was driving north on South Front Street swerved into the path of a tractor-trailer traveling in the opposite direction.

The accident occurred around 2:10 p.m. in front of Nye’s Body Shop, when the 32-year-old driver of a Chevrolet Cavalier, Amber Stoneroad, crossed into the southbound lane.

Fire and rescue personnel on the scene did not know why the car went into the wrong lane. Traffic was immediately diverted off Front Street, between Church and Chestnut streets, for about 45 minutes. The Cavalier was towed into the body shop lot.

Stoneroad was taken by Americus ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she was listed in serious condition, Tuesday night.

Members of the fire department assisted police.
