Van tumbles in Route 11 crash

A 67-year-old man was taken to the hospital after the van he was driving went careening out of control and then flew off Route 11 near Danville and came to a rest on its side in field along the road.

Police said Carl J. Kauffman, of Millerstown, was traveling north near Cotner Lane around 4:25 p.m. when his 2000 Dodge Ram E-360 hit a guard rail then swerved back across the road and went over the other guard rail and into a filed.

Police said Kauffman was not wearing a seatbelt. He was taken to Geisinger Medical Center for treatment of injuries police described as minor.
