Owner: Fire ravaged BJ's to be razed and rebuilt in Danville

DANVILLE — BJ’s Steak and Rib House will be demolished, according to owner Bob Kirkpatrick.

The restaurant, at 219 Mill St., was a total loss from an April 20 fire in downtown Danville.

Kirkpatrick said most likely he will rebuild at that location, but is waiting for more information from his insurance company.

He expects to hear from the insurance company in the next couple of weeks.

Investigators listed the cause as undetermined because of the amount of damage.

Some of the Danville restaurant employees are working at BJ’s restaurant in Selinsgrove and others are receiving unemployment or looking for jobs. The Danville location employed 45.

BJ’s opened in Danville in 1987. Kirkpatrick founded the Selinsgrove business in 1982.

The fire also affected tenants in the adjacent building housing Abigail’s Attic which has moved to a new site.
