Snyder County woman charged with stealing $2,923 from friend

SELINSGROVE — Felony theft and forgery charges have been filed against a 39-year-old Middleburg woman accused of stealing nearly $3,000 from a former friend.

Michelle Ann Stahl, of 126 S. Main St., allegedly forged her name on checks owned by Thomas J. Marzocchi and used his bank accounts for automatic payments to cover her car insurance without his permission, state police at Selinsgrove said.

The alleged forged checks were cashed between Oct. 26 and Nov. 18, 2010, and the automatic withdrawals were made monthly between March 2011 and January 2012 when Stahl and Marzocchi lived together in Monroe Township, Snyder County, according to court records.

The amount allegedly stolen by Stahl was $2,923, police said.

Charges of felony receiving stolen property, forgery and theft by unlawful taking were filed against Stahl in District Judge John Reed’s Selinsgrove office.

A preliminary hearing is set for Oct. 1.
