SUNBURY - A Port Trevorton man was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, in the deaths last July of a Northumberland man and his 4-year-old son.
In all, state police at Stonington filed 22 charges against Brian S. Glass Jr., 25, who they allege was intoxicated when his Jeep Liberty collided head-on with a car driven by Kirk Mahaffey, 22, on the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Sunbury.
The accident killed Mahaffey and his young son, Mayson.
According to police, Glass, driving eastbound on the bridge, swerved into the westbound lane, directly into the path of Mahaffey, who was driving a Chevrolet Equinox. The collision occurred July 17.
Glass was arraigned late Tuesday afternoon by District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum.
Among the charges were: multiple felony counts of aggravated assault by vehicle while under the influence, homicide by vehicular driving while under the influence, homicide by vehicle; and multiple misdemeanor charges, including driving under the influence of a controlled substance, involuntary manslaughter, and recklessly endangering another person.
He was also charged with numerous summary traffic violations.
Glass was sent to Northumberland County Prison after he was unable to post $250,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing was not scheduled.
