Allenwood woman charged in $5G jewelry burglary

— LEWISBURG — An Allenwood woman accused of breaking into a home and stealing jewelry worth nearly $5,000, which she allegedly pawned for about $450, has been charged in Union County.

Lesley Ann George, 31, was arraigned recently by District Judge Leo S. Armbruster following an investigation by state police at Milton.

George is charged with felony counts of burglary, theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.

According to the affidavit filed in Union County Court, state police went to an Allenwood home at about 3:45 p.m. June 9 after a woman reported jewelry had been taken from her residence. The victim’s name was not released.

The missing pieces were a gold wedding ring valued at about $3,500, a gold mother’s ring valued at about $450 and a plain gold ring valued at about $400. Also taken was a gold pendant valued at about $600, the affidavit states.

Police interviewed George on June 15, and she confessed to the burglary, the affidavit states. It doesn’t say what led police to talk to her.

George allegedly told troopers she entered the home May 28 through an unsecured basement door and took the items from a jewelry box. She pawned the jewelry for about $450 in Williamsport, according to the affidavit.

George is scheduled for a preliminary hearing June 25 in Armbruster’s office.
