Mom’s minivan crashes, killing daughters 8, 3

Third girl in critical condition

STILLWATER — Two sisters were killed and a third critically injured Friday morning when their mother’s minivan collided with a work van on Route 487 in Columbia County, state police at Bloomsburg report.

Abigail Haskell, 8, and Charlotte Haskell, 3, of Berwick, were traveling with their mother, Amanda J. Haskell, 28, of Berwick. Haskell’s south-bound minivan entered the northbound lane and was struck by a work van driven by Richard L. Spicher, 37, of Lewisburg, at 9 a.m. in Fishing Creek Township, Columbia County.

The girls were pronounced dead at the scene.

A third passenger in the vehicle, Allison Haskell, 5, and Amanda Haskell were taken to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where Allison was listed in critical condition Friday night and Amanda Haskell in fair condition, according to a nursing supervisor.

All involved in the accident were wearing seat belts or were in booster seats, troopers reported.

Spicher reported no injuries at the scene, state police said.

State police say the investigation continues into the crash.
