Juniata County man killed this morning in Snyder County crash

FREEBURG – A 28-year-old man from Juniata County was killed early today when his car crossed the center line of Route 35 in Snyder County and collided with a pickup truck.

Joshua M. Gerber, of 1607 Dunn Valley Road, McAlisterville, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:18 a.m. crash, about one mile south of Freeburg in Washington Township.

State police at Selinsgrove said Gerber was driving south on Route 35 when his 1997 Ford Taurus crossed into the northbound lane and collided with the pickup truck, operated by Brian Wileman, 30, of Port Royal. Wileman was taken to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for treatment of injuries, police said.

Route 35 was closed while state troopers from Selinsgrove investigated. It reopened about 8 a.m.

Assisting at the scene were volunteers from Freeburg, Middleburg, Selinsgrove, Sunbury and Mount Pleasant Mills.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
