Charity's vending machines robbed, damaged at Montour County rest stop

DANVILLE- Four vending machines that raise money North Central Sight Services at a rest area in Montour County were broken into over the weekend, according to police.

The thefts at the machines occurred between Saturday at 10 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m., according to police. An undetermined amount of money was taken from the machines.

State police at Milton are still investigating the incidents. Anyone with information is asked to call 524-2662.

The money generated from the four machines benefits North Central Sight Services, which helps benefit sight impaired persons living through central Pennsylvania, police said. The damage to the machine was extensive and repairs will likely exceeds hundreds of dollars, police said.

Similar incidents were also discovered in Columbia County and state police in Bloomsburg are investigating those incidents.
