Row house fire in Lykens kills one person, injures two others

LYKENS — Authorities say a fire in a central Pennsylvania row home has claimed the life of one person and injured two others.

Officials in Dauphin County say the flames were reported shortly after 10 p.m. Sunday in Lykens.

Fire Chief Terry Sherman, who lives nearby, said that he ran outside and saw flames blowing out from the front of one of the buildings.

Sherman said oxygen tanks were in use in one of the buildings and the fire had “very intense flames.” Four houses with six apartments were involved and six people were displaced.

The Dauphin County coroner’s office said an autopsy on a female victim from the fire was scheduled Monday afternoon.

Officials said two people were taken to Hershey Medical Center, where their conditions were not immediately available.
