Blade wound fatal for fair helicopter pilot

DANVILLE —  A spokeswoman for Geisinger Medical Center said Saturday night that an employee of the company operating helicopter rides at the Bloomsburg Fair died Friday night, after being struck in the head with a helicopter blade.

Carl Enlow, 69, who was one of the helicopter pilots, was rushed to Geisinger Medical Center after the accident, which occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

According to the Bloomsburg Fair website, Heritage Motors has been offering helicopter rides since 1993 and was charging $15 per person per ride.

The Heritage Motors website had no information about the fatality Saturday night.

Heritage Motors started in Reading by owner/operator Doug Pennypacker. It operates Enstrom helicopters.
